Capping off a season of golf that began in March and ended in November, the Women’s Golf Association enjoyed its annual Christmas luncheon on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club.

Although the month of November presented mostly cold and unplayable weather, the ladies were able to play several fun-format golf games throughout the month.

Chip-ins were scored by Fran Griffeth, Berta Murzyn and Ginny Romero, and two by Beverly Turley. Turley and Murzyn also each had a birdie.

The scheduled Turkey Shoot days could not be played, but the ladies enjoyed playing various board games and poker instead.

Awards were presented at the Saturday luncheon for the season-long Ringer Board competitions.

Winners were Robin Boyd in Flight 1; Fran Griffeth in Flight 2; and Josanne Cossio in Flight 3, an award she also won last year.

Earning the award for Most Improved Player was Tammie Fuller. Two additional awards were given this year, with the Most Birdies Award going to Murzyn, and the Most Chip-ins Award going to Boyd.

The induction of new officers was also conducted. In-coming president is Kathryn Bayless, replacing the late Cindy Hill; in-coming vice-president is Marilyn Jaramillo, replacing Griffeth; Marilyn Winters will retain her secretary position; and Kathy Burrow who will retain her treasurer position.

Informal play dates will continue through the winter months for those wanting to play, and next year’s regular season will begin in March.

Ladies who would like to join WGA next season should contact Edie Redfearn Moore at 505-864-7015 or Kathy Burrow at 505-270-7048.
