The Women’s Golf Association enjoyed its annual Christmas luncheon at Tierra del Sol Golf Club on Saturday, Dec. 11, after completing its season-ending play days in November.

The Turkey Shoot on Nov. 17 was the highlight of the month.  The first-place gross winners were Beth Taylor in the first flight, and Marilyn Winters in the second flight.

First place net winners were Fran Griffeth in flight one, and Kathy Burrow in flight two. All players were given a Walmart gift card for their participation.

Other first gross winners throughout the month were Redfearn-Moore and Taylor with two each and Murzyn with one. Burrow scored two first net wins, with Marilyn Jaramillo, Griffeth, and Winters each scoring one.

Throughout November, Winters and Jeannie Burleson scored two chip-ins each, with Cindy Hill, Edie Redfearn Moore and Taylor each scoring one.  Birdies were scored by Berta Murzyn and Burrow.

The Christmas luncheon featured the installation of new officers for the upcoming season.  Serving as officers will be Cindy Hill, president; Fran Griffeth, vice-president; Marilyn Winters, secretary; and Kathy Burrow, treasurer.

Capturing the Ringer Board awards this season were Kathryn Bayless, flight one; Cindy Hill, flight two; and Josanne Cossio, flight three. This award goes to the players who improved the most strokes over the duration of the season.

The honor of Most Improved Golfer, which is given to the person who most improved her handicap, was earned by Berta Murzyn.

The ladies will provide lunch for the TDS employees on Thursday, Dec. 16, to show their appreciation for all the work they do throughout the year.

The 2022 WGA season will resume in March. Ladies in the community who would like to join are asked to call Edie Redfearn-Moore at 505-864-7015, or Kathy Burrow at 505-270-7048 for information.
