October was a month of several highlight performances by the local Women’s Golf Association members.

Topping the list was a coveted Hole In One by Regina Trujillo on Oct. 15. This was her first such achievement.

Fran Griffeth won the Ultimate Ace award over Ace of Aces competitors, Robin Boyd and Trujillo. This title caps the season-long Ace Day competitions which were played each month and culminated in the final competition on Oct. 22.

In the annual Fall Frolics Tournament, held on a cold, wet Oct. 17, First Gross winners in the first flight were Jeannie Burleson, Berta Murzyn, Kathryn Bayless and Trujillo. In the second flight, First Gross winners were Edie Redfearn-Moore, Karen Mills, Tammie Fuller and Kathy Burrow.

Capturing Second Gross in flight two were Marilyn Winters, Dorothy Lindberg, Janel Lowery, and Griffeth. The team of Cleo Wersonick, Jane Dolan, Marilyn Jaramillo, and Marla Wersonick placed second net in the second flight.

Special awards went to Bayless for Closest to the Pin; Jaramillo for Longest Drive, and C. Wersonick for Closest to the Squiggly Line. There were 14 total teams playing in the tournament, with half of them involving local players.

Other notable accomplishments in October were Chip-Ins by Griffeth, Trujillo, and Murzyn and two by Boyd. Murzyn also had a Birdie.

November will be the final month of play for the season, with the Turkey Shoot on Nov. 16 as the featured event. Voting for new officers will be at the meeting on Nov. 2.

Of special note, a memorial service was sponsored by the family of WGA member and president Cindy Hill on Saturday, Oct. 29. Friends, family and fellow golf members were in attendance.
