Highlighting the month of October for the Women’s Golf Association was the Fall Frolics Tournament on Oct. 18.

Three flights of five teams each, totaling 59 local and out-of-town players, enjoyed the day of competition, lunch and awards ceremony that followed.

Local first-place winners were Berta Murzyn, Kathryn Bayless, Jeannie Burleson, and Regina Trujillo, First Gross in the Second Flight. Placing First Gross in the Third Flight was the team of Cleo Wersonick, Marla Wersonick, Marilyn Jaramillo and Lina Castillo.

First Net winner in the Third Flight was the team of Fran Griffeth, Cindy Hill, Dorothy Lindberg and Marilyn Winters.

Winning the prize for Closest to the Pin in the 30-40 handicap category was Burleson.

In other October action, the Ultimate Ace competition was played on Oct. 23, with Griffeth emerging as winner.

Throughout the month, birdies were scored by Edie Redfearn-Moore, Winters and Jaramillo. Beverly Turley scored two chip-ins, and C. Wersonick, Jaramillo, Winters and Tammie Fuller had one each.

November play days on both Wednesdays and Saturdays will mark the end of WGA action for the year, with the annual Turkey Shoot to be played Nov. 17 and  Nov. 20 for the Saturday players.

Special recognition goes to Griffeth for placing Second net in her flight of the Albuquerque City Women’s Golf Championship.
