The Valencia County News-Bulletin is a locally owned and operated community newspaper, dedicated to serving Valencia County since 1910 through the highest journalistic and professional business standards. The VCNB is published weekly on Thursdays, including holidays — and online at news-bulletin.com.
Our office hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are politically independent, and welcome community submissions from all points of view.

Clara Garcia

Clara Garcia is the editor and publisher of the Valencia County News-Bulletin. Clara is a native of the city of Belen, beginning her journalism career at the News-Bulletin in 1998 as the crime and courts reporter. During her time at the paper, Clara has won numerous awards for her writing, photography and typography and design both from the National Newspaper Association and the New Mexico Press Association. She is also past president of the New Mexico Press Association.
Julia Dendinger

Julia M. Dendinger began working at the VCNB in 2006. She covers Valencia County government, Belen Consolidated Schools and the village of Bosque Farms. She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists Rio Grande chapter’s board of directors
Felina Martinez
News-Bulletin Staff Writer
Felina Martinez was born and raised in Valencia County. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2021. During her time at UNM, she studied interdisciplinary film, digital media and journalism. She covers the village of Los Lunas, Los Lunas Schools, the School of Dreams Academy and the town of Peralta.
Mike Powers
News-Bulletin Sports Writer
Mike Powers spent more than 40 years as a television news and sports anchor, mostly in the Albuquerque market. He has won numerous awards including New Mexico Sportscaster of the Year. He covers a wide range of sports, including the Valencia County prep scene.
Jesse Jones
News-Bulletin Staff Writer
Jesse Jones lives in Albuquerque with his wife and son. Jesse graduated from of the University of New Mexico twice. This spring, he graduated with a degree in multimedia journalism and, in 2006, he received a bachelor’s degree in University Studies with an emphasis in photojournalism. He is a current fellow of the New Mexico Local News Fund.
