It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha Moya Barreras, affectionately called nana, Bea or auntie “B” by her family. Bertha was a lifelong resident of Adelino, N.M., and passed away on May 18, 2024, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. 

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Tomé.  

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio L. Moya and Emilia Aragon Moya; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jose Ignacio Barreras and Dolores Gavaldon Barreras; two brothers, Amarante Moya and Bert Moya; two sisters, Lucy Peralta and Stella DeBaca; two brothers-in-law, Dan DeBaca and Phil Peralta; and three nephews, Anthony Peralta, Brian Joseph Moya and Ralph DeBaca.  

She is survived by her husband, Jerome, of 63 years; her four children, who were her pride and joy and who she loved dearly, Lawrence Barreras and wife, Monica, Debi B. Wright and husband, Frank, Andrew Barreras and wife, Dorothy, and Jerome Jr. and wife, Dawn; her precious and beloved grandchildren, Francine, Jarrod, Andres, Jonah, Jordan, Victoria, Esperanza Gabriella, Tristan (Ashley) and Franklin (Danielle).  

Also, her devoted siblings, Connie Baca and husband, Lorenzo, and Tony Moya; sister-in-law, Margaret Moya; several nieces and nephew and many dear friends.  

Her family was her whole life and she constantly reminded them, “Love one another as I have loved you.”  

Mrs. Bertha Barreras retired from Belen Consolidated Schools after 31 years as a bus driver and also drove for Adelino Head Start for 12 years. 

Funeral Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé on Thursday, May 30. Times are pending.
