Willie Brewster

Willie Brewster, 65, passed away surrounded by his family on Sept. 23, 2023, in Yuma, Ariz.  

Willie was a long-time resident of Belen, living there with his family since 1990, before moving to Yuma in 2018.  

Willie was born April 8, 1958, in Farmington, N.M. He married the love of his life, Kim, on Nov. 5, 1982. They had two children, Bryan and Lisa. Throughout his life, Willie was an avid member of the NHRA. He loved all types of auto racing and owned several types of race cars. You would often find him winning trophies at the Duke City Racetrack and Albuquerque Speedway.  

Willie owned a mechanic shop in Albuquerque and assisted many in the community with their vehicles. He mentored many young men and taught them about cars, mechanics and manhood. Willie was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He spent many weekends at Elephant Butte with family and friends.  

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Belen and served the community by completing household projects and yard work for many.  

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kim; son, Bryan; and daughter, Lisa; in-laws, Lorraine and Leon Miller; sisters, Charla (Sue) Reese and Shirley Vest; and numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.  

Willie made friends wherever he went and will be truly missed.  

A celebration of life services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at the First United Methodist Church of Belen.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Willie’s memory be made to the City of Hope Cancer Center in Goodyear, Ariz.
