A $1000 Trade/Technical Scholarship from the New Mexico Activities Association Foundation has been awarded to Belen senior Nicholas Fresquez, a standout football and track athlete for the Eagles.

“I figured it would be perfect for me because I’m going to trade school,” Fresquez said about his decision to apply for the scholarship.

As part of the process, Fresquez wrote an essay, talked about his community service and described his experience in athletics.

Fresquez, who carries a 3.8 grade point average, will attend linemen school at Central New Mexico Community College.

“I looked at all these careers and for some reason being a lineman stuck out to me,” Fresquez said.

“I love to be active, doing that outside every day and helping the world. Build the world up.”
