Eduardo “Eddie/Ed” Apodaca Patricio Garley

1942-2023

Eduardo “Eddie/Ed” Apodaca Patricio Garley

Named after his father and St. Patrick, Eduardo “Eddie/Ed” Apodaca Patricio Garley was born in Winslow, Ariz., on St. Patrick’s Day in 1942 to Eddie and Lupe Marquez Garley. He departed Nov. 18, 2023, while on home hospice.

He was preceded by his parents, sister, Mella Taylor; brothers, Frank, Robert and Herman Garley; and son, Georgie Garley.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Julian Garcia; daughters, Kathy and Barbara Garley and Tina Crocco; and step-daughter, Nicole Armijo; grandchildren, David, Dwight, Shawnte, Dillon, Cole, Clinton, Kaylie and lan, and several great-grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed often recalled a fun memory when he was an industrious young boy. He found singer, Hank Williams, sitting on a bar stool in Winslow. Hank bought all of his newspapers and then gave the papers back to him to re-sell.

He had many occupations but favorites included owning a jewelry store in Old Town and farming alfalfa in Abeytas.

He married Sue Warren Armijo in 1996, and they realized their vow to grow old together. He loved family above all.

His service will be officiated by Pastor Richard M. Garcia at Christian Family Church of God, 318 S. Sixth St., Belen, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9.

Family is enormously grateful to Hospice of New Mexico, especially the nurses and, in particular, Imelda Salgado.
