LOS LUNAS – A man was shot and injured Saturday evening outside a Los Lunas clothing store.

Los Lunas Police Detective Nikki DeAnda said the shooting happened at about 6:20 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, in the parking lot directly in front of the Ross Dress for Less at the Valencia Y Shopping Center.

Wanted for aggravated battery

“At this time, the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated. Based on the evidence at the scene, we were able to identify the offender,” DeAnda said.

A no-bond warrant has been issued for Jimmy Aragon, 37, of El Cerro, in connection to the shooting for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and shooting from a motor vehicle.

The detective said officers made multiple attempts to locate Aragon Saturday evening, but were not successful. His last known address was on El Cerro Loop.

Aragon allegedly fired one shot, hitting and injuring a man in the parking lot. DeAnda said the victim was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque for treatment, and the last information she got from hospital personnel was that he was in stable condition.

DeAnda said Aragon should be considered armed and dangerous, due to the nature of the crime he is being sought for.

“We will continue to try to apprehend him due to the severity of the crime. He did discharge a weapon; this is a violent crime,” she said. “He does have previous violent felony charges on his record.”

A black four-door passenger car with rose gold accent paint on the sides is also being sought in connection with the shooting, DeAnda said.

If anyone has information about the incident or Aragon, they are asked to call Detective DeAnda at 238-2372.
