Sick of all the Super Bowl talk? Looking for something else to do on Super Bowl Sunday?

The Tomé Art Gallery has your answer.

This year, the gallery is hosting its annual Soup-R-Bowl party at the Thome Dominguez Community Center for those who don’t really care to see the game on Sunday, Feb. 5.

The event is in its fourth year, and for $10, residents can pick out their own handmade bowl and get to choose from various types of soups to enjoy during their afternoon.

The bowls are made by local artists, and proceeds go to the Virginia Casados Clark Scholarship Fund at the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus.

The events runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last year, the group raised $3,000.

“It seems to have caught people’s fancy,” said artist Jan Pacifico, who helped organize the event.

Pacifico said community members can not only expect to have their choice of bowl and soup, but bread and dessert as well. She said people take the opportunity to come out because of the social atmosphere and good time.

People can pick up their bowls at the gallery and then head on over to the community center for some delicious food.

She said the price for the bowls is under what artists usually charge for their work.

“On every level, it’s a fun event,” Pacifico said.
