BELEN–To advance literacy in the area, the Friends of the Belen Public Library recently made donations to three Valencia County organizations. The Friends presented a $200 check to both the Valencia County Literacy Council and Valencia County Head Start, to support their programs.

In addition, the Friends delivered nearly 200 new children’s books to the Belen Public Health Office to be given to their young clients. The donation included books in both English and Spanish.

The Friends of the Belen Public Library is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Its mission is to support and promote the Belen Public Library and community literacy. To raise funds, the Friends of the BPL runs the Books on Becker secondhand bookstore on Becker Avenue in Belen.
