Isaac A. Bernal
Isaac Bernal (Ike or as he was known by his Belen family and friends, Iky), died on July 12, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Tixier Bernal; his children and their spouses, Genevieve Bernal Wilson (Zachary Bernal Wilson) and Anthony Bernal (Dr. Cuoghi Edens); his sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte Brubaker (Dr. Michael Brubaker); his sister-in-law and spouse, Wanell and Joseph Donnelli; and his nieces and nephews, Larry Brubaker (Stephanie Brubaker), Athena Brubaker (Greg Schmidt), Danae Cross (Shane Cross), Bryon Rael (Jennifer Rael), Israel Rael, Christopher Rael (Vicki Rael), Danny Donnelli (Amber Donnelli) and Charette Godoy (Sergio Godoy) and their families.
Ike was a humble, patient listener and gave advice to anyone who wanted it. He was always willing to give his time and energy to his family and friends.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ike retired from the VA Medical Center and afterwards, cared for veterans as a psychiatric nurse. He was an avid cyclist, enjoyed spending his retirement years with his wife exploring Florida, trying the latest electronic gadgets, and visiting their children and their dogs in Chicago.
Services will be held Monday, Oct. 9, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, at 10 a.m, with visitation at 9 a.m.
