Josef Christopher Valery Witz

1992-2023

Josef Christopher Valery Witz

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the unexpected falling asleep of Josef Christopher Valery Witz, of Albuquerque.

Born in Chelyabinsk, Russia, in 1992, Josef became a permanent part of our family in 1995. Josef was a beacon of joy in our lives, and his departure leaves a void that can never be filled.

We remember him for his kind heart, infectious laughter and unique sense of humor and perception of the world. Although always ready with a joke, Josef was hard working and mechanically adept. He touched the lives of so many and will forever be missed by family and friends.

He is survived by parents, Lew and Lynda Witz; sisters, Anya Bucci (Robert) and Madalyn Witz; and brothers, Gregg Witz (Teresa) and Elias Witz.

We extend thanks to Joe’s supportive friends, Anthony Trujillo from his days at Albertsons, and neighbors Rick and D’Ann Craft.

As we come to terms with this unimaginable loss, we hold onto the love and cherished moments that will keep his spirit alive in our hearts.

He graduated from La Cueva High School and brought with him a talent in woodworking. Joe used his skill for some particularly interesting projects, like a robotic refuse bin mover he designed with his grandparents, Fred and Toni Sparber, of Belen.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Aug. 10, at All Saints of North America Orthodox Church, 10440 Fourth St. NW, in Albuquerque. Burial followed the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

May Josef’s memory be eternal!
