NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a meeting of the Valencia County Board of Commissioners on April 17, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. a public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING ORDINANCE. This ordinance is to implement the Affordable Housing Plan. In accordance with the N.M. Constitution, Article IX, §14,the Affordable Housing Act, NMSA 1978, §6-27-1 et seq. NMMFA Rules, the purpose of the Affordable Housing Ordinance is to establish procedures to ensure that local housing assistance grantees are Qualifying Grantees who meet the requirements of the Act and the Rules promulgated pursuant to the Act both at the time of the award and throughout the term of any grant or loan under the Program.
The Affordable Housing Act (AHA) allows local governments to donate resources to create and maintain affordable
housing in their communities. If a community has an Affordable Housing Plan and a local or county ordinance in place, communities can donate or make contributions towards acquisition, development, financing, operating, and maintaining affordable housing, donations are exempt from the anti-donation clause of the New Mexico Constitution.
The Board of County Commissioners may vote to adopt the Ordinance at the regular meeting following the public hearing on April 17, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. The public hearing and meeting will be held at the Valencia County Commission Chambers, 444 Luna Ave, Los Lunas, NM 87031
