Dear people of the great state of New Mexico,

Hello! I am a third-grade student in northern Virginia. Our class is learning about the United States, and I will be teaching our school about the state of New Mexico. In May, I will create a display for our State Fair that I hope will make you proud.

Although I have gathered facts about your state from books and websites, I think that I can receive the best information from the people who live there. This is why I am writing you.

I am hoping that you would be willing to send me some items to help me learn more about the best things in your state. You might consider sending items, such as postcards, pictures, souvenirs, this newspaper letter, or any other unique items that would be useful to show your state’s pride. Here are a few questions:

  • Why do you live in your state? What first brought your family there?
  • How do you make money? What is your job?
  • What does your state look like?
  • What do people do for fun?
  • What animals live there?
  • What traditional food/recipes does your state have?
  • What type of music is native to your state?
  • Do you have a state athletic team?
  • What geographic features are unique to your state?

I will need to gather all of my information by the second week of May. You can mail items to the address below. I really appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Aleena

Goodbye patients

Editor:

To my First Choice patients and their families: it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will not be returning to the workforce after maternity leave.

I was supposed to return to work in April but I have decided to stay home full-time with my baby. Ignacio was born in October and has completely taken over our lives, for the better.

I have been with FCCH Los Lunas for almost 10 years and have had thousands of patient encounters; each one has been meaningful in its own way. I truly loved being a provider and I wanted to make sure that my patients know how much I truly care about you and your families.

You all have made me a better person and a better provider. I will always be grateful for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I wish you all good health and wellness. Hopefully, our paths cross again in the future.

Welcome to the Banana Republic of Los Lunas

Editor:

Where, just like in Zimbabwe and other places, three council members completely ignored the hundreds of residents who attended multiple meetings to oppose the expanded Niagara water extraction deal. This is like giving a car driver who drives 97 percent of the time drunk a new license to now drive a school bus. The people have no voice in the village.

Let’s remember in 2025 to vote out Christopher Ortiz, and later James Runyon and Mayor Charles Griego. Although it may now feel like Zimbabwe, this is America, where we do have a voice (even if only every few years).
