Utility player Eliseo Ramirez of Valencia earned first team All-State honors in baseball.

Softball and baseball players from Valencia, Belen and Los Lunas recently received recognition from several organizations following the completion of high school competition.

The All-State softball teams are selected by New Mexico High School Coaches Association, while All-State baseball honorees are chosen by New Mexico High School Baseball Coaches Association.

 

Baseball

Belen’s Angel Garcia was named to the 4A All-State baseball first team as an infielder.

Belen infielder Angel Garcia, and Valencia utility player Eliseo Ramirez, both juniors, were named to the 4A All-State first team.

Two other BHS Eagles, catcher Brysen Soiles, a junior, and senior outfielder, Tyler Martinez, were named to the second team.

Senior Ryan Castillo, of Los Lunas, garnered several honors. Castillo was named honorable mention 5A All-State in two positions, as a pitcher and utility player. In addition. Castillo is the 5-5A District Player of the Year and the third baseman on the Albuquerque Journal All-Metro first team.

Castillo and LLHS senior teammates Paul Cieremans and Casey Herrell, along with Martinez of Belen, were selected for the Red vs. Green 4A/5A All-Star games played recently in Las Cruces.  Ironically, Martinez was on the Red team, while his former Eagles’ coach Tom Wisneski was an assistant for the Green squad.

 

Softball

Los Lunas outfielder Marleigh Manns was named first team All-state in softball.

Los Lunas outfielder Marleigh Manns, who signed with New Mexico State University, was selected 5A All-State first team.

Manns and LLHS junior third baseman, Sarah Love, were named to the Albuquerque Journal All-Metro second team.

Manns was also chosen to play in the Red vs. Green All-Star games at Cleveland High School.

In 4A, Valencia’s Cambria Garley, just a freshman, was named to the All-State second team as an infielder.
