Upcoming fund-raisers for the Valencia County Extension Service include a raffle for a horse and the Old Mill Mercantile’s 20th anniversary sale.

Billy and Donene Seelbach have donated a filly for a drawing by the Valencia County Farm Bureau. Tickets may be purchased at one for $5 or three for $10. The drawing will be held Sunday, April 7, at the Old Mill Mercantile’s anniversary activities.

“During our anniversary week, the first of April, we will donate a dollar for every bag of Purina feed we sell,” said Corky Morrison, owner of Old Mill Mercantile.

Also during that week, world-renown horse trainer Curt Pate of Montana will be giving clinics on April 4 and April 7. The Thursday, April 4, clinic will be Pate demonstrating his system of breaking a colt.

On Sunday, April 7, Pate will work with individuals and their horses for a $150 fee.

The $20 class audit fee for those wishing to watch the April 7 clinic will be donated to the extension service fund.

“Usually there are about 200 to 300 people at Curt Pate’s clinic who audit the class,” Morrison said.
