Los Lunas

Two Los Lunas volleyball players were named All-State in 5A by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.

Both Lauren Shiplet, libero, and Mia Mendoza, setter, were selected for the second team.

Los Lunas standout Mia Mendoza, No. 10, was named to the 5A All-State Volleyball second team for a second straight year.

For Mendoza, a junior, it was a repeat performance after being named to the second team in 2022.

“Mia was the quarterback of the team,” said Tigers’ coach Tanya Sanchez.

Mendoza was the District Player of the Year, second team All-Metro and fifth in the state with more than 800 assists.

Shiplet, a junior, led LLHS in digs and was in the top ten for all schools in that category. Sanchez called Shiplet “a great asset to the team and a leader in the back row.”
