Tomé — The Tomé Art Gallery is excited to share the annual Soup R Bowl event will once again be held in person this year from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, at the UNM-Valencia campus Student Community Center.

Bowls are now on sale at the Tome’ Art Gallery, 2930 N.M. 47, and at the UNM-Valencia Bookstore. Bowls,  including soup, bread and dessert, cost $20.

This year, the soups will be made again in the kitchen at the Student Union Building on campus by gallery members, faculty and community members. The soups will include old favorites, Rockin’ Moroccan, Italian Sausage Soup, Greek Lemon Chicken, Tex-Mex,  along with Friendship Soup.

There will also be a silent auction, in which all proceeds of the event go to the UNM Endowment Fund and are matched dollar for dollar by the federal government.

There are currently five $1,000 scholarships awarded every year to art students at the Valencia campus. In the fall, they will be adding a sixth.

The scholarships have been named after members of the gallery who have passed on, including Virginia Casados Clark, Jim Vaughn, James Taylor, Nancy Deas and Tom Walpole.

Join the Tomé Art Gallery as they celebrate its 15th year raising money for local art students. To date, they have raised more than $60,000.
