Wascher was raised on a farm in rural eastern Washington. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and entered boot camp at Lackland, Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas.

His military operating specialty was in electronics. To further his knowledge in this area, Wascher obtained his associate degree in electronics at Lowry Air Force Base, Colo.

His primary role in the Air Force was serving with Atomic Energy Detection Systems at McClellan Air Force Base, Calif. In this role, he was involved in numerous nuclear tests, including those that involved France, Russia and China. He played a prominent role for the United States evaluating the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster in Ukraine (then Russia).

Wascher retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant in 1988. He served his country for 23 years. His Air Force training prepared him for a second career at Boeing Defense and Space Group and then Boeing Commercial Airplane group. Among his various roles at Boeing was a contamination control tech, a failure analysis technician, space launch support technician and finally research analyst. He worked at Boeing for 17 years.

Wascher has been married to his wife, Linda, for 55 years. Together they have enjoyed driving their RV around the country visiting 48 states.

Warren is still closely immersed in his first love, music. He continues to play his string bass, along with a second love, the bass guitar. Among other interests, Wascher, along with Linda, enjoys line dancing, whenever they have a chance.

He is a worship team member at Sagebrush Community Church in Los Lunas. In between all these activities, they have successfully raised three children. No small accomplishment in a life time well lived.

Warren and Linda have lived in Belen for the past 17 years.
