Melissa Marberry-Profitt has resigned at Valencia volleyball coach to “take more time with my family and focus on my teaching.”

TOME—With district play on the horizon, longtime Valencia High School volleyball coach Melissa Marberry-Profitt has resigned, effective immediately. Assistant coach Leslie Owen was named interim head coach.  

The Jaguars’ record this season under Marberry-Profitt was 7-4. VHS is among the favorites when action in District 5 4A begins Oct. 10.  

In her resignation letter to Wilson Holland, Los Lunas Schools director of athletics, Marberry-Profitt said, in part, “Thank you for the opportunity to work with the volleyball program at Valencia High School. Currently, I have decided to take more time with my family and focus on my teaching.”  Marberry-Profitt told News-Bulletin she had no further comment at this time.
