BOSQUE FARMS — The Wells Fargo location in Bosque Farms will close its doors on Oct. 4, Wells Fargo spokesman Ruben Pulido told the Albuquerque Journal.

The branch in and Santa Teresa will close that day as well. Wells Fargo closed a Santa Fe branch in May, and another one in Corrales on Aug. 16.

Notice of the two October closures was given to the federal Office of the Comptroller of Currency in July.

Banks have to give at least 90 days’ notice before closing a branch location. The same July OCC bulletin included notices for 15 additional Wells Fargo closures in 13 states.

“… Customers use our wide range of digital capabilities for many of their banking needs and, as a result, more transactions are happening outside the branch,” Pulido said in an email. “As customer preferences and transaction patterns change, so will our branches and the experiences customers have in them.”

For customers in Bosque Farms, the next closest Wells Fargo is in Los Lunas, at 1027 Main St. SE.

When asked how many employees in Bosque Farms might lose their jobs, said Pulido didn’t know.

“At this time, we don’t know the employee impact,” he said. “Our leadership team will make every attempt to place employees in positions in other branches.”

Wells Fargo has more than 50 branches across the state, 23 of which are in Albuquerque.
