Barbara Moya Apodaca

Barbara Moya Apodaca, age 79, was a beloved Los Lunas resident. Barbara passed away on Thursday May 18, peacefully in her home surrounded by those she loved.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Jose Moya; her mother, Adelia Garcia Moya; and her brother, Solomon Moya.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Sammy Apodaca, of 66 years; her children, Beverly Torres, Mary Abeita, Sammy Apodaca (wife, Kimberly Apodaca) and Monica Bassett. Barbara was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 29 great-granchildren and two great-great grand children, and many other extended family members.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was kindhearted and sweet and was always a call away for anyone and everyone.

She enjoyed her morning coffee and her bear claws, whether it be with her beloved husband or her friends. She had a love for embroidery, and watching her game shows. She was filled with humor and joy; her smile and laugh could brighten a room within a second.

Barbara had a love for poetry and enjoyed writing. Prior to her leaving us, she wanted to share a final poem from her heart: “I’ve come to the end of my road and the sun has set for me. I don’t want rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free, miss me a little but not for long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared miss me but let me go, for this is a journey that we all must take and each one must go alone. It’s all part of the master plan, a step on the road. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to a friend you know bury your head sorrow in doing good deed’s, miss me but let me go.”

Her love and presence will forever be missed but her memory will forever live on in all our hearts.

A mass was held Friday, May 26, Calvary Chapel in Los Lunas.
