Sebastian Mirabal

Sebastian Mirabal, age 89, a resident of Adelino, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. 

Mr. Mirabal proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from the city of Albuquerque as a firefighter and also enjoyed his work with the American Red Cross. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Sofia Mirabal; sisters, Tommie Garcia (Victor), Corine Gurule (Marcy) and Tillie Handley (Eddie); brothers, Alfejo Mirabal (Carol) and Cruz Mirabal (Bernice); and son-in-law, Joe Manzanares. 

He was survived by his wife, Margie, of 67 years; daughters, Pat Manzanares, Eleanor Taylor (Steve), Sophie Murphey (Kasey), Margaret Lynn Mikelson and Tanya Moya (Jason); “son,” Paul Mirabal; brother, Pablo Mirabal Jr. and wife, Barbara; brother-in-law, Julian Garcia; and cousin, Dolores Garcia; two sisters-in-law, Lilly Tafoya and Eleanor Wells (Phil).  

He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren, Cindy Bard (Tony), Jodi Collier (Sean), Nicole Pacheco (Chris), Joey Manzanares, Sophia Manzanares, Keith Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Joey Tabet (Amanda), Kody Murphey, Kelly Tabet, Ryan Murphey (Janet), Abby Murphey, Wyatt Mikelson, Liam Mikelson, Tori Peek, Trenten Peek, Jacee Moya, Joshua Moya and Jose Luis Garcia, as well as his 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and blessed valley family. 

A matanza will be held at the home of his daughter, Tanya, at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 2. Those who wish to join the procession, in honor of his life and service, may gather at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel at 1 p.m.
