Berlinda Bernal

1955-2024

Berlinda Bernal

Berlinda M. Bernal, age 68, a lifelong resident of Belen, was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.

Our beloved Berlinda was the life of the party and was the matriarch of Belen Moose Lodge 1680 and was a member since 1987. If you couldn’t find Berlinda, you could always find her at the Moose Lodge as she loved her moose.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Felipa Chavira; beloved son, Darrin “SAPO” Bernal; granddaughter, Angel Montoya; siblings, Maryjane, Max, Rose, Pricilla, Josie and Elvia; and in-laws, Cleo and her partner in crime “Bimbo;” and May.

She was a devoted spouse to Herman Vallejos of 33 years, with whom she shared many memories and life moments. Maurelio Bernal blessed Berlinda with six children, Malinda, Christopher, Melissa, Mario, Danny (Yvette) and Darrin “Sapo,” who went before her to help prep heaven in honor of his momma.

Berlinda loved all her family and friends but had a special place in her heart for Annette, Delora, Marlinda and Sharon, her bonus daughters.

Berlinda was a proud grandmother to Maxine (Eric), Toby, Beverly, Erica, Frances, Steven, Virginia (Hector), Danny Martin Jr., Christopher, Dynessa “Honey,” Julyssa “Sugar,” Josiah, Ahonesty, Gabrielle, Veronica, Marissa and Destiny; and a great-grandmother to Abrianna, Emily, Noah, Ezra, Jeremiah, David, Justin, Mason, Lucas, Alyzah, Elyanna, Blas, Estrella, Junior, Alexis, Vicente, Adrian, Malia, Marcelino and Myla.

Berlinda was also survived by many loving family and friends including her siblings, nieces and nephews, with whom she had a special bond.

Berlinda may have been known as the life of the party and a straight shooter, but she loved and loved being loved and respected. She handed down many family traditions and they will be forever cherished and honored. Football season will never be the same. She will definitely have the best seat in the house as she cheers on her San Francisco 49ers. Forever and always in our heart.

All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, May 2,  beginning with a viewing at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes everyone to a reception at the Belen Moose Lodge 1680 following the services.

Pallbearers will be Steven Armijo, Freddy Rendon, Christopher Bernal, Toby Montoya, Beverly Gallegos, Josiah Bernal, Abrianna Bernal and David Ayala.
