First-year Valencia football coach LeDarrius Cage directed his initial Jaguar youth camp last Friday, guiding participants through a variety of drills.

Cage is a 2007 Los Lunas High School graduate and former VHS assistant coach.

“I’m back home, which is always a good thing,” Cage said. “I’m being given an opportunity to give my hometown something that they’ve given me when I was young and I was playing.”

Cage believes his players are buying into a standard of “discipline, hard work and perseverance. They are leaders for our family, our school and our community.”

One priority, according to Cage, will be to “push out into the community and let them know there are two high schools here (including LLHS.) Two big-time football programs and we’re on the come-up.”
