Carol Gutierrez

Carol Gutierrez, age 60, a resident of Casa Colorada, passed from this life to be with Jesus on the morning of Memorial Day at 11:58 a.m., May 30, 2022.

“She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith.”

Carol was surrounded by her loving family during this difficult time. She had an indomitable spirit and perseverance — she was a fighter, enduring a multi-year marathon with cancer.

Carol’s life radiated with unconditional love. She was selfless, passionate, courageous, resolute, uplifting, kind, giving and excellent in all she did. Carol loved Jesus, her savior, and her family.

She overcame remarkable challenges throughout her life, making her wise beyond her years. Carol had the gift of empathy, allowing her to “get” people; thus, making her a friend to animals and children.

Among her enduring contributions is the happiness she filled her loved ones with in life. In memoriam given her cute voices and joyful banter to the people she loved the most.

Carol worked at various jobs but she loved her work at Clariant, working there for 24 years. She had many hobbies, and loved her life to the fullest.

Carol was preceded by her mother, Ermma Patterson; stepfather, Charles Patterson; grandparents, Teresita and Frank Bernal; uncle, William Bernal; and nephew, Kevin Revak.

Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald Gutierrez; two daughters, Marie Gutierrez and Jennifer Azbill; son-in-law, Adrian Azbill; and five grandchildren, Anacristina Gutierrez, Alejandro and Angelica Diaz, and Jesse and Cean Azbill; sisters, Corine Revak (Floyd Jaramillo) and her son, Robert Griego, and Shirley Patterson; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Carol will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation and celebration of her life took place on Tuesday, June 14, at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley. Interment followed at Casa Colorada Cemetery.
