The Los Lunas Police Department will conduct a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Friday, May 24, at 10:30 p.m.

Officers will be stopping all vehicles traveling through the designated area in an attempt to identify and remove any intoxicated drivers.

“With the Memorial Day weekend, high school and college graduation and the start of summer vacation, the Los Lunas Police Department will be making every attempt to keep our community safe and sober,” said Lt. Bill Phillips.

“We want our citizens to celebrate and enjoy themselves, however, we want them to do so in a responsible way.”

This is just one of the many law enforcement activities they will be conducting between now and Labor Day, Phillips said. Seatbelt enforcement, radar patrols and selective traffic enforcement activities, as well as DWI saturation patrols, are all planned.
