A pedestrian was killed Friday evening on N.M. 314 after being struck by two vehicles.

Around 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, just south of Miller Road, a man, later identified as Billy Jay Johnson, 29, of El Cerro, was hit and killed, Valencia County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Joseph Rowland said.

“Both drivers indicated he was in the roadway,” Rowland said. “There are no charges being filed against the drivers and there is no indication of alcohol being a factor (in regards to the drivers.)”

Rowland said Johnson’s driver’s license was found in the area of the crash, as well as narcotics and paraphernalia.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, Johnson’s mother reported him missing to the sheriff’s office, Rowland said, and the description she gave of tattoos Johnson had matched those of the man killed on Friday.

N.M. 314 was shut down for several hours while the crash was being investigated, and northbound traffic was detoured to Interstate 25 at the bypass in Belen.
