Eleanora “Nora” Zamora

Born on April 26, 1941, in Willard, N.M., Nora was the second child of nine born to Antonio and Florinda Chavez with a total of 11 children in the family.  

She graduated from Estancia High School, where she met her husband, Robert Zamora. They were married on June 15, 1963, and in 2023, Robert and Nora celebrated 60 years of marriage.  

Nora was a mother of four, Ethan (Teresa), Eric (Volelle), Sandra and Susan Martindale (Michael); grandmother to 12, Kortney, Kaitlyn, Kimber, Mary, Aaron (Delcennia), Ethan, Elias, Michael, Mark, Kristian, Jordan and Justin; and great-grandmother to five, Gabrielle, Sabrina, Charlotte, Eleanora and Laila.  

She joined our Heavenly Father on Nov. 30 with Robert at her side. 

Nora lived in Albuquerque and retired from Albuquerque Public Schools. She enjoyed time traveling and camping with family, gossiping with her sisters, spoiling grandkids and her trips to the casinos. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Altar Society, where she displayed her devotion to her Catholic faith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ramona and her husband, Gavino Hererra; sister-in-law, Canda (Bobby Chavez); brother, Eutemio “Tootsie” Chavez; and sister, Patsy (Anthony Tenorio). 

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard, N.M. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Father Jose Lucero presiding. Interment will be at the family ranch in Willard.
