U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell has nominated a group of dedicated young New Mexicans to attend the service academies of the U.S. military, including three from Valencia County.

  • Maximus Passeno, of Los Lunas, received a nomination for the United States Air Force Academy;
  • Naithan Gurule, of Los Lunas, received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy;
  • Camden Cox, of Rio Communities, received nominations to both the United States Naval Academy and United States Military Academy West Point.

“One of the best parts of this job is helping young people achieve their dreams of serving this wonderful country in uniform,” said Herrell.

“I was thrilled to call each of them to deliver the good news, and I hope their careers of selfless service will go on to inspire many more young people to make New Mexico proud.”

Members of Congress may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to their district.
