Lillian Baca

1931-2023

Lillian Baca

Lillian Baca, age 92, a resident of Peralta, for more than 70 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with loving family at her side.

She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, where she and her late husband, Jimmy, served as mayordomos of their parish and padrinos of the infant Jesus. She took pride in being a member of her Catholic community, where she served in the Altar Society for more than 50 years, and was president of her ministry for many of those years.

Lillian was a long time First Holy Communion faith formation teacher. She taught several generations of children the gift of receiving the Holy Eucharist.

Lillian had many other gifts and talents, such as being an excellent seamstress. She made several wedding, baptismal, first communion, prom dresses and outfits for her family. She also took pride in making hundreds of beautiful altar linen for the sanctuary to celebrate our liturgies. Lillian was also a master gardener. Her roses and flowers were admired for their beauty by so many.

Her biggest and greatest accomplishment was her gift of sharing time with the family on Sunday for brunch and holiday gatherings. “Grandma Baca” looked forward to Sundays as she watched the kids run, play and enjoy the family talking and laughing.

Most of all, Grandma shared her gift of cooking for all. She could whip up a tasty meal in minutes. Her specialties were her well known cinnamon rolls and fresh tortillas. She always had an open door for friends, family and guests to share a fresh cup of coffee. The wonderful smell as you entered her home while she prepared a meal will be dearly missed.

Lillian is preceded in death by husband, Jimmy Baca; son, Jimmy Joe Baca Jr.; parents: Jenaro and Trinidad Black; parents-in-law, Santiago and Filomena Baca; granddaughter, Braylene Joshlynn Jaramillo; great-granddaughter, Kylee Jaramillo; son-in-law, Benny T. Jaramillo; brother, Alfred Black; sisters, Rosie Garcia, Rosemary Sais and Margaret Zubiate; brothers-in-law, Florencio Sais, Louis Garcia, Dave and Pat Baca; sisters-in-law, Agnes Baca, Florence Black and Irene Rivera.

Jaramillo, Lucille Hernandez (Michael) and Jacque Haynes (Rodger); 13 grandchildren, Miguel Baca (Cindy), Brandy Ortiz (Patrick), Karrie Ann Lucero (Matthew), Brandon (Annette) Jaramillo, Elizabeth Jordan (Bruce), Cynthia Baca, Michele Aragon (Steven), Bryan Russell (Rain), Sebastian Baca (Prisma), Francesca Anderson (Michael), Breanna Fisher (Justin), Randi Marie Franco (Robbie) and Dustin Baca (Guadalupe); 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
