Nationwide paper shortage forces temporary change-over

State Motor Vehicle Division customers receiving titles, registrations and other correspondence in the mail beginning this week will receive those documents in an envelope from the state’s Department of Workforce Solutions.

Because of a nationwide paper shortage, MVD has been unable to obtain its usual envelope stock. The Department of Workforce Solutions has stepped up to provide some of its preprinted envelopes for use by MVD.

“We realize this may cause confusion for some customers, but thanks to our colleagues at the Department of Workforce Solutions, we will be able to continue to provide critical documents and notices to our customers uninterrupted,” said Taxation and Revenue Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke.

The return address on the envelopes will be Workforce Solution’s, but the bulk postage stamp will include the words “MVD Mail,” as in the photo below.

The Motor Vehicle Division is not expecting a new shipment of envelopes until this fall, so it will continue to use the Department of Workforce Solutions envelopes until then.
