Rio Communities — Rio Communities will witness the construction of hundreds of new homes in the upcoming decade.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held on Jan. 16 for the new Tierra del Sol subdivision in Rio Communities, attended by elected officials and business leaders. The event marks a significant step forward for the growing community.
In the first phase of Dwell Builders’ 10-year plan, they will have 35 homes constructed at the new subdivision located on Chamartin Avenue in Rio Communities in conjunction with the local construction company, Build Corp.
“We wanted to make sure that we use local people in the community because that’s how good economic development works,” said Alex Horton, co-owner of Dwell Builders.
The company is offering three different house styles, each featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-car garage attached to the property.
According to the press release, prices for the homes are as follows: • 1,525 square-foot home, starting at $339,000.
- 1,734 square-foot home, starting at $389,000.
- 2,100 square-foot home that also has an additional room that can be used as an office, home gym, entertainment room, starting at $439,000.
“We were impressed with the city, its rural nature yet access to larger communities like Los Lunas and Albuquerque,” explained Davis. “We had no idea where Rio Communities was until we explored it.”
“We are committed to adding to the economic prosperity of the region,” Horton added. “To improve the economy, the first step is having more roofs, which will generate more tax revenue. And with the economic development that is happening, those new employees must have a place to live.”
Dwell Builders also recently purchased a 5.1-acre parcel off N.M. 304. Plans are still in the works but may include multi-family units. The company is also working with the USDA to offer no down payment and low-down payment programs to home buyers.
At the ground-breaking ceremony, Horton thanked the city’s economic developer, Ralph Mims, for showing them what Rio Communities has to offer.
“I was really excited because we’ve done projects in Albuquerque, and when we came out here, they said it was going to be really easy and they were very encouraging,” Horton said. “They told us how streamlined the process was, and sure enough, we had a permit from Rio Communities and we took it down to CID.”
