Flu shot clinic

A flu shot clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, at the Belen Business Center, 719 S. Main St., Belen. The event, sponsored by the RSVP and Walgreens in Belen, is a COVID-safe space, where masks are required and temperatures checked. Bring your medical insurance card with you.

 

Jamboree on Air

Jamboree on the Air will be held at Anna Becker Park in Belen from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 16-17. The program provides the opportunity for Scouts around the world to meet on the air via amateur radio. The Community Responder School is hosting the JOTA station, which includes radio demonstrations, short radio procedure classes, Amateur Radio Emergency Service information, food trucks and more. Eagle Park dedication

The city of Belen is hosting a dedication for the improvements at Eagle Park at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, with numerous events, including the Color Fun Run for the Belen Middle School football team fundraiser, a costume skate contest and a graffiti art contest at the Belen Skate Park and youth flag football games.

 

Garage sale

The Las Maravillas semi-annual garage sale will be held beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16.

 

Book signing

Casey Luna and Richard Melzer will be available to sign copies of Casey’s new biography, “Casey Luna: A Colorful Life in Business, Politics and Motor Sports Championships,” from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, at Treasure House Bookstore, on the south side of Albuquerque’s Old Town Plaza.

 

Candidate forum

A political candidate forum for city of Belen elections will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Belen First Assembly of God church, 19398 N.M. 314, in Belen. Pastor Greg MacPherson said the forum will be live-streamed on various platforms, including the News-Bulletin’s Facebook page.

 

Fiesta de Amor

Celebrate Jesus at Anna Becker Park in Belen from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, as part of Fiesta de Amor and Holy Ghost and Fire Ministry Fellowship Church. Scarecrow Festival

The third annual Scarecrow Festival, hosted by the Belen Arts District and city of Belen, will be held from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30. There will be a total of 40 booths, including art vendors, food trucks, two live bands, a beer and wine garden and a dancing group. A scarecrow parade and contest will be held at 5:30 p.m., with prizes for the top three. A costume contest will also provide prizes. Trick or treating is encouraged. Halloween Party at the Drive-In

The village of Los Lunas is hosting a Halloween Party at Badlands Drive-In Theater from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30. There will be candy, games, rock wall, food trucks, a live deejay and dance floor. There will be a costume contest for kids and adults on stage, where you’ll be shown on the big screen and have the chance to win some great prizes. The movie, “Beetlejuice” will be show. This is a free event.
