Prescilla Artiaga

1934-2019

Prescilla Artiaga, age 85, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully at her home on April 9, 2019.

She was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church. “Pres,” as she was known to her friends and family, was an assistant cook for many years at the Los Lunas Schools. She loved to read, watch her novellas, go fishing and drink coffee with a sweet treat.

Above all, she loved spending time with her family. She was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pres is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Lorencita Garcia Carrillo; her brother, Pete Carrillo; her sisters, Louisa Miranda, Tiburcia (Tibbie) Luna and Pauline Carrillo; and in-laws, Felix and Sofia Artiaga.

She is survived by her husband, Clemente Artiaga; daughter, Cathy Artiaga Trei; sons, Clem, Jr. (Debbie), Lawrence (Liz) and Eric; grandchildren, Amber Noel, Timothy, Teri (Chris) Marquez, Clem III, Anthony, Antoinette and Amber; great-great grandchildren, Celio Felix, Avah, Haley, Ambre, Ezkiel, Alyiah, Mathias, Abriella, Nadia and Natasha; and many sisters-in-law, brothesr-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held on Friday, April 12, at San Clemente Catholic Church. Interment followed at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Diego Luna, J.D. Luna, Yazman Luna, Clem Artiaga III, Timothy Cogis, Walter Gallegos, Anthony Marquez and Lester Lamb. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Blea, Marty Luna, Shane Luna and Gabriel Sanchez.

Darrin “Sapo” Bernal

Darrin Bernal, 40, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Amanda Morrison; children, Josiah and Ahonesty Bernal, Noah and Bella; mother, Berlinda Bernal (Herman Vallejos); father Maurelio Bernal (Lucy); brothers, Chris Bernal, Mario Bernal, Danny Bernal (Yvette Bernal) and Matthew Bernal; sisters, Malinda Almanza, Melissa Gonzalez and Tanya Bernal; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, April 26, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. A final visitation will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 27, with the Funeral Mass to be held at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at the Belen Moose Lodge 1680.

Pallbearers will be Steven Armijo, John Paul Mendoza, Joe Gallegos, Toby Montoya, Christopher Bernal and Toby Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Maxine Montano, Virginia Gonzales, Frances Ramirez and Charlene Morrison.

Amanda Jane Heinsen Cordingley

1983-2019

Amanda Jane Heinsen Cordingley, age 35, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on April 18, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Heinsen and mother-in-law, Patricia Cordingley.

Amanda is survived by her loving companion of 16 years, Joseph Cordingley; daughter, Janet; mother, Debra (Carl) Morales; grandmother, Sally Heinsen; sister, Marie Heinsen; brothers-in-law, Casey and Allen (Amy) Cordingley; nieces, Natasha Heinsen and Bella Mascarenas; nephews, David Sanchez and Tristin Cordingley; and best friend and caregiver, Jenny (Brian) Peasley.

Services will take place at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 26, beginning with a visitation at 10:30 a.m., and a celebration of life at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at New Life Fellowship, 1928 Fellowship Way, Belen.

Mireya N. Martinez, age 22, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019.

She was a recent graduate of UNM with a Bachelor’s of Business degree.

She is preceded in death by her aunt, Laura Quevedo; as well as her grandfathers, Alfonso Quevedo and Jose Ramon Martinez Sr.

She is survived by her parents, Marithza and Jose Ramon Martinez; her sisters, Myriam and Mirabelle; her nephew, Elijah; her grandparents, Libby and Morgan Stoops, and Billy and Mario Armijo; Blanca Martinez, aunts, uncles, cousins and Ruben Armijo.

Services were held on Wednesday, April 17, at San Clemente Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were Jose Ramon Martinez, Jeffery Mowry, Connor Gabaldon, Aldo Martinez, Duane Vasquez and Sebastian Martinez. Honorary pallbearers were Jonny Armijo and Marcos Grove.

Nathan Christopher Morrison

Nathan Christopher Morrison, age 28, a resident of Belen, passed away on April 20, 2019.

Our beloved Nathan was one of the most loyal and charismatic people. He was always real and had so much heart.

Nathan was a devoted father to his children, Jenae and Dante. They were his life and his every breath. He was always a protector of his loved ones.

Nathan was the life of the party. He loved the Colts, singing and dancing. He made sure he lived a life surrounded by his family and friends. Nathan had a smile that could bring anyone joy and a laugh that could make everyone’s day.

We will miss him dearly. He will forever be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Louisa Martinez; uncle, Victor Martinez; cousin, Veronica VanCleef; and nino, Ramon Abeyta.

He is survived by his children, Jenae and Dante Morrison (mother, Antoinette); parents, Rosanna and Eron Montoya, Phillip Morrison (Jennifer); sister, Michelle Martinez (Daniel) and kids, Elijah and Zeus; brother, Isaiah Martinez (Bernice) and kids, Genesis, Aniah and little Isaiah; sister, Sierra Roha; sister, Heather Bagwell; sister, Hope Montoya; his nina, Lala Abeyta; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will take place on Sunday and Monday, April 28-29, beginning on Sunday, April 28, with a public viewing at 2 p.m., and a Rosary to be recited at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A final visitation will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, April 29, and a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sabinal Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Isaiah Martinez, Amador Gonzales, Danny Morrison, Daniel Jaramillo, Theo “Welky” Theodore and Romolo Armijo. Irving W. Potter and Phyllis M. Potter

Died 2019

Irving W. Potter, age 94, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on April 18, 2019. His wife of 54 years, Phyllis M. Potter, age 92, joined him on April 23, 2019.

They were members of Los Lunas First Baptist Church. Their hobbies included traveling extensively in their motor homes. Both had been active in the Gideons.

Mr. Potter enjoyed singing in the church, while Mrs. Potter enjoyed entertaining and cooking. They were former owners of Ute Lake Motor Inn & Boat Storage in Logan, N.M.

They are preceded in death by their son, Dave Kithcart.

They are survived by kids, Hal Kithcart, Dianne Geminhardt, Terry Pierce and Tim Potter. Mr. Potter is survived by a brother, Everett Potter. Mrs. Potter is survived by a sister, Nadine Whiteman. They are also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at the First Baptist Church of Los Lunas. Interment will be private.

1931-2019

Eva G. Timmons

Eva G. Timmons, 87, of Bosque Farms, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter E. Timmons; her children, Richard Timmons and wife, Joanne Timmons, and Vickie Cook and husband, Russell Cook. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends.

Eva will be buried privately at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, Peralta.

Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church.
