Ronald Hooks 

Died 2023 

Longtime New Mexico resident, Ronald Hooks has passed away at the age of 81.  

Ron completed both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Texas A&M University and went on to pursue his PhD at Michigan State University.  

In 1969, Dr. Ronald Hooks moved to New Mexico to become the superintendent of the NMSU Agricultural Science Center in Los Lunas. Dr. Hooks was the superintendent of the farm from 1969-1996.  

After a brief retirement, Ron returned to work with a position at Southwest Indian Polytechnic Institute and eventually became head of the science department there. Ron retired once again to spend time with his family and to continue to volunteer with his church.  

Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy R. Hooks; and his sons, Ronald and David Hooks and their families. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra and her family.  

Services for Ronald Hooks will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 24, at Life.Church in Rio Rancho.
