Don Yates

Don Yates, 89, of Bosque Farms, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2023.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Marlen; his children, Danny Yates and wife, Beverly; Cam Yates, James Yates and partner, David Jones, and Tina Craig; three grandchildren, Roszlyn, Jessica and Wyatt; three great-grandchildren, Roxie, Weezie and Waylon;  

He’s also survived by his brothers, Dick and Bill Yates; his sisters, Raeana Wadhams and husband, John, and Sharon Miller and husband, Jim; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.  

Don grew up in Hasty, Colo. He graduated from Colorado State University where he received an agricultural degree. He was an all-around cowboy and president of the Rodeo Club.  

He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Don was an amazing husband, father and grandfather, and loved his family dearly.  

Don retired from the Farm Bureau Insurance Co. after 35 years. He enjoyed roping, golfing, fishing and gardening.  

Don was an avid reader, was a fan of the Cowboy Channel, and especially enjoyed his 5 o’clock cocktail.  

He will be greatly missed.  

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Cowboy Hall in Bosque Farms.  

A private cremation has taken place at French Funerals and Cremation.
