Shawn P. Ammons “Shawngo,” age 53, a resident of Belen, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 6, 2023.  

He was passionate about being involved with the youth in the Belen Parks and Recreation community, and was loved by all the kids. He loved all sports, including softball, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved dancing and enjoyed singing along to country music.  

Shawn was also a huge Raiders fan. He loved taking his son, Brandon, on their annual hunting trips. He was also enchanted by his new baby granddaughter, Emmie. With his zest for life, he could light up the room with his beautiful smile. He will be greatly missed by the community of Belen, his friends and especially his family. 

Shawn is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Dean Ammons. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Ammons; sons, Devon (Michaela), Brandon “BA” and Martin “Marty;” daughters, Haley “Princess” (Angelo and Tito) Jordan, Chantel “Chaca” and Hannah “Pumpkin Pie;” granddaughter and his pride and joy, Emmie Rose; mother, Rosemary Ammons; sister, Julie; special uncle, Sonny Almadova (Paula), who was like a father to Shawn; mother-in-law, Marcella; sister-in-law, Jennifer Barba (Elias); brother-in-law, Robert Aragon (Veronica); godson, Clay Carrete; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, Oct. 17, beginning with a viewing at 9 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
