David and Nellie Sonnenberg, of Los Lunas, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on March 12. The couple was married in 1971.

It wasn’t long after the tall and handsome kid from Cleveland, Ohio, came to Belen High School that he met his soulmate. The two became high school sweethearts, and later married. God’s plan was for them to share a beautiful love story.
David retired from Innerspace Systems, Inc. He enjoys hunting, fishing and annoying his grandchildren and making them laugh.
Nellie is retired from Wells Fargo Bank. She enjoys spending weekends with her daughter, shopping and eating out.
The Sonnenbergs have two children, daughter, Tamra, and son, DJ and wife, LeeAnn. They have four grandchildren.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a small, intimate celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
