McKaylee Burt, No. 8, was one of four Los Lunas Tigers named to the all-state soccer second team.

Four Los Lunas girls’ soccer players were named All-State by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.

McKaylee Burt, Adelina Villanueva, Mia Carabajal-Hartog and Haylee Driscoll were each selected to the 5A second team, the only selections from Valencia County, girls or boys.

“I cannot say enough about these student-athletes as individuals and team players,” said LLHS coach Jorge Tarango.

Burt, junior midfielder and runner-up for District Player of the Year, “has great athleticism, soccer skills and a high soccer IQ,” according to Tarango.

Burt led the Tigers in assists and steals.

Villanueva, junior defender, is described by her coach as “very passionate, determined and confident,” who can shut down any player.

Two seniors end their LLHS careers as all-state selections. Carabajal-Hartog led the Tigers in goals and “is one of the most hard working and dedicated multi-sport student-athletes there is,” Tarango said.

As a goalkeeper, Driscoll led the Los Lunas defense to nine shutouts, earning the praise of Tarango.

“Haylee made significant saves all season long that either helped get a win, shutout or keep us within striking distance.”
