Los Lunas

Los Lunas was able to collect a win over Belen at the District Duals last week by a final of 46-21.

In the 106-pound category, Marcus Rimorin, of Belen, defeated Ayden Cordova, of Los Lunas, via fall.

For the 113-pound category, Belen’s Josiah Pemble defeated Noah Gurule via a 5-0 decision.

At the 120-pound category, Ernie Gonzales, from Los Lunas, got a 10-2 decision over Julian Sisneros.

In the 126-pound category, Aaron Zamora, of LLHS, took down Quinton Thompson for the win.

Tiger Isaiah Baca took the 132-pound win as he had no challenger in the category.

At 138 pounds, Belen’s Peter Duran got the win over James Bachicha.

Los Lunas’ Naithan Gurule took home a 4-2 decision win over Damien Wood, of Belen, in the 145-pound category.

Belen was able to capture the 152-pound category with Gabriel Tharnish getting a 9-4 decision over Jonathan Trujillo.

Ely Gutierrez took home an 11-4 win in the 160-pound category for Belen as he beat Nicholas Torres.

Los Lunas got the 170-pound category win with Miguel Andrade, beating Belen’s Javid Sanchez via a fall.

The Tigers also collected the 182-pound category with Zander Doyle taking a 6-1 decision over Bobby Orona.

Andrew Alfero, of Los Lunas, took the 195-pound category with a win over Augustine Lopez.

James Garcia collected the 220-pound category for Los Lunas with a win over Santiago Sisneros, and Ryan Vega defeated Tregg Johnson to win the 285-pound category.

On that day, Los Lunas also collected a 78-6 win over Highland High School. The only category that Los Lunas did not win in against the Hornets was the 195-pound category as the Tigers did not have a competitor for that weight class.

Belen also got by Highland in the District Duals that day, winning 65-18.

Winners for the Eagles in that one were Marcus Rimorin, Josiah Pemble, Julian Sisneros, Quinton Thompson, Peter Duran, Damien Wood, Gabriel Tharnish, Ely Gutierrez, Javid Sanchez, Bobby Orona and Santiago Sisneros.

The Eagles also collected a 72-12 win over Rio Grande with the Eagles winning all but two matches in that dual.

Los Lunas will host both Santa Fe and Capital this week at LLHS and then will be at the Robertson Classic over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Belen will be hosting both Socorro and Roswell this week, before hosting to the Kirby Duals over the weekend.

The Valencia wrestling team is scheduled to be at Roswell this week, before going to Albuquerque Academy and then ending the week in Belen for the Kirby Duals.
