Vitalia Chavez

Vitalia Chavez, passed away at home on Aug. 28, 2023, at the age of 75.  

She was born and raised in Valencia, with her four brothers. After graduating high school, she attended beauty school. She married Roman in 1971 and they had three children.  

She first worked as a beautician, and helped with the P&M Farm business until she and her husband opened the Pizza Express restaurant, then subsequently Little Anita’s  and Route 66 Grill and Gifts restaurants.  

However, her most fond job was being a mother, often stating that her children were her greatest accomplishments.  

Vitalia, known as Vee, has reunited with her daughter, Carmela Chavez Carpio; her mother and father, Juanita and Espiridion Aragon; her brother, Frank Aragon; and her mother- and father-in-law, Manuela and Pablo Chavez.  

She will be missed by her husband of 52 years, Roman Chavez; daughter, Contessa Hernandez (husband, Jesse); son, Paul Chavez (wife, Maggie); grandson, Johnathan Carpio; brother, Tino Aragon (wife, Loretta); brother, Ralph Aragon; brother, Delfin Aragon (wife, Ida); and her many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and memorial service will take place from 2-5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at Sandbagger’s Eatery, 19586 N.M. 314 Belen.
