Presentation of 2023 season awards and induction of 2024 officers were the highlights of the Dec. 9 season-ending Women’s Golf Association Christmas luncheon.

Awards for the season-long Ladies 18 Ringer Board Competition were won by Robin Boyd in Flight 1; Paula Valdez in Flight 2 and Marilyn Winters in Flight 3.

The Ladies 9 category was won by Beverly Turley, who was also awarded Overall Most Improved Golfer.

Special awards were given to Winters for Most Chip-ins throughout the season, with Berta Murzyn winning the Most Birdies award.

All of the 2023 officers will be returning in 2024. They are President Kathryn Bayless, Vice-President Marilyn Jaramillo, Secretary Marilyn Winter and Treasurer Kathy Burrow.

Weather problems during the month of November hampered several play days. However, the meeting day scramble, played on Nov. 1 was won by the team of Bayless, Marla Wersonick and Fran Griffeth.

A designated Low Putt competition was played on Nov. 8. The co-winners were Edie Redfearn-Moore and Bayless. A special Boobie Prize was won by Jaramillo.

In the Wednesday Turkey Shoot competition on Nov. 15, Bayless scored First Gross, and Winters scored First Net.

First Gross winner in the Saturday Turkey Shoot was Murzyn, with a First Net going to Jaramillo.

November chip-ins were scored by Redfearn-Moore, Winters and Jaramillo.

During the winter months, informal play dates will continue, with the official 2024 season beginning in March.

Ladies who would like to join the WGA should contact Edie Redfearn-Moore at 505-859-2304 or Kathy Burrow at 505-270-7048.
