With no major tournaments scheduled for July, the Women’s Golf Association was able to play several make-up Ace Day competitions that had been missed earlier in the season.

Lady 18 winner for Saturday play in May was Marilyn Jaramillo, and Berta Murzyn won for June Saturday play. Robin Boyd won for July Saturday play and for June Wednesday play.

July Wednesday Lady 18 Ace Day winner was Edie Redfearn-Moore, and the Ladies 9 Ace Day winner for July was Anna Martinez.

The meeting day scramble winners were the team of Paula Valdez, Fran Griffeth and Joanne Romero. Placing second was the team of Kathryn Bayless, Jeannie Burleson and Martinez.

Scoring birdies in July were Regina Trujillo, Redfearn-Moore, Bayless, Boyd and Murzyn with two.

Chip-ins were made by Josanne Cossio, Tammie Fuller, Valdez, Bayless and Redfearn-Moore with two.

A special Pink Ball format was followed for the play day on July 26. Playing on the winning Lady 18 team were Jaramillo, Boyd and Trujillo, while Martinez was the top Ladies 9 individual player, there being no full team in that category. Redfearn-Moore won the longest drive contest.

Murzyn chalked up 4 First Gross wins throughout the month, followed by Boyd with 2, Martinez with 2 and Jaramillo with 1.

The popular Grandma’s Tournament will be played on Wednesday, Aug. 16. The ace Days will be played on Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 12.

It’s not too late for ladies to join the WGA. If interested, contact Edie Redfearn-Moore at 505-864-7015 or Kathy Burrow at 505-270-7048.
