Arthur S. Maynard

Arthur S. Maynard, of Los Lunas, passed away on March 14, 2024.

“Art” graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Mo., and then went on to earn a BA in forestry from the University of Missouri. He was drafted in 1958 to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Art returned home to start his career with the U.S. Forest Service in Magdalena, N.M. During his time there, he attended a social mixer, where he met and married the love of his life, Sue Ann Stefan.

Art enjoyed a lengthy career in the U.S. Forest Service, which took him and his family to small towns throughout the Southwest. Art and Sue Ann developed long-lasting friendships with neighbors and ski patrollers.  They enjoyed outdoor activities, including: camping, skiing, fishing, boating and hunting.

Toward the end of his career, he became an avid runner and gardener. This prompted his desire to own a farm; leading him and his wife to purchase land in Los Lunas, where they built their dream home and farm.

He was an accomplished artistic welder. His “patio art” won ribbons at the state fair and was sold to many art lovers in New Mexico.

The family welcomes comments, stories and favorite memories to this post as we celebrate the life of Art Maynard.

In lieu of flowers/donations please “pay it forward” and perform an “act of kindness” in remembrance of him.

Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service, Los Lunas, 2211-D Main St., SE, Los Lunas, 505-866-9992.
