Evelyn Joyce Olguin

1953-2023

Evelyn Joyce Olguin

Evelyn Joyce Olguin, age 69, a longtime resident of Jarales, was called home by our lord and savior Jesus Christ on March 28, 2023.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1953, in Belen to her mother, Juanita Chavez. She married Jose Olguin at the young age of 16; had two beautiful children together, as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was a strong woman of faith; she was a member of Christian Faith Chapel for more than 20 years, where she faithfully attended services every Sunday. She enjoyed reading her Bible and sharing scripture amongst friends and family.

Evelyn had a gift for leaving an imprint on everyone she met. She had a prayer list longer than the eye could see, and was constantly praying for her friends and family. She was a beautiful gift to this Earth, and now God’s work of art has returned to be with her maker.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’” John 11:25-26

Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, Celestino Martinez; her mother, Juanita Martinez; and sister, Dolores Chavez.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jose “Avilio” Olguin; her son, Dominic Olguin; her daughter, Lorrie Chavez and her husband, Ramon; her five grandchildren, Ashli Flock, Nicholas Olguin and his wife, Erica, Dylan Flock and his fiancé, Anais Andino, Felicia Olguin and her boyfriend, Zackery Lucero, and Ramon Chavez Jr.; her eight great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jericho Olguin, Brayden Trujillo, Madison Torres, Lilly and Riley Flock, Jaxxon Lucero and Celeste Chavez; her sister, Sandra Chavez; and her best friend, Cheri Jaramillo and her husband, Henry.

Services for Evelyn will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 6, beginning with a visitation at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel. A memorial service will take place immediately following at 10:30 am.

Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., 505-864-4448, where an online guest register is available at noblin.com.
