Mike McCartney, age 71, a resident of Belen, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital on March 23, 2023.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
He was born in 1952 to Howard “Mac” McCartney and Joan Kern Craig. Mike served in the military right out of high school and played for the All Army Fast Pitcher during his service years. He had many fast-pitch accomplishments (trophies) in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Neta McCartney; brother, Max McCartney; and sister, Lori McCartney.
He is survived by his two loving sons, Jason (Valerie) and Brian (Erica); grandchildren, Darren McCartney, Aubriana Martinez (Joe), and Thomas, Mateo, Jaiden, Uryah, Kaleb and Aria McCartney; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ron McCartney; sister, Marsha Trees; stepsisters, Tammy Snyder and Debbie Powell; many associates, special friends, softball friends and extended family members.
