Belen first baseman Shyla Rocha is ready for action Saturday, as the pitch zips toward home plate during a doubleheader against Las Cruces.

BELEN — The bats were cracking Saturday for Belen during a double-header against Las Cruces, but the Eagles had a difficult time shutting down the Bulldawgs offense.

BHS was swept at home by scores of 20-10 and 21-11. On Monday, the Eagles (5-8) fell at West Las Vegas 9-2.

In other action, Los Lunas (5-2) defeated Silver 4-3 and Deming 7-1 at the Artesia tournament but lost to Cobre 13-0. The Tigers meet Carlsbad Thursday in the opening round of the Rio Rancho tournament.

Valencia (1-4) will also participate in the Rio Rancho tournament beginning Thursday, facing Miyamura. The Jaguars will look to end a four-game losing streak when they play their first game in 10 days.
